This week, Class 3 have had an exciting week! We have looked at a story called ‘Into the Forest’ and have written a piece of writing describing an image from the book. In our work, we used extended noun phrases and created some very interesting sentences.
In Maths, we worked on doubling and halving. We also looked subtracting and borrowing. We all tried our very best, and worked very hard. In our Geography, we looked at physical and human geography. We created a table and looked at Netherthong and the North-West and their features of the landscape.
Also, we got to practise our recorders which was really fun! We learned some music and the music note ‘B’ and ‘A; We can’t wait for the next lesson!
We are also learning a song, as well as the National Anthem for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We’re both excited and nervous to learn them!
On Thursday, two of us took part in a cricket tournament at Holmfirth Cricket Club. The day started out very cold, then it got very sunny which made the games harder to play, but they were still fun. It was one of the best days ever! We played seven games, and played our best in all of them.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Well done this week. We have had some fun inside and outside of the classroom.
We have looked around the grounds and tried to identify what physical and human geographical features are around our playground. We created a table to record our findings.
We have been working on fractions of numbers in maths. This was tricky, but we kept trying and got it in the end. We remembered to look at the numerator and the denominator.
We were sad to say goodbye to Miss Arno, who has been with use for 8 weeks. She has been a great student teacher and we send her lots of luck in the future. I am sure that she will be back for a visit before we know it.
Have a great weekend and take care.

I think we have crammed 5 days into 4 this week! You have all worked very hard in every area. You are making us all very proud of you and your hard work.
In Maths this week, we have been looking at 2D and 3D shape and we also looked at angles. We found out that right angles are 90 degrees. We also investigated obtuse and acute angles. You have also been learning about turns. This can be tricky and had us Spinning Around!
In English we have been learning all about Blackpool Illuminations. We linked this to our Science work on light.
In music we learnt another note - A. You really impressed us with your control of the recorder, following your conductor, starting and stopping at the correct time and keeping the rhythm. Wow! We certainly have a budding Orchestra on our hands.
Please don't forget your homework this weekend.
Have a great weekend.
Miss Watkins, Miss Arno and Team.

Welcome back. As I write this, the sun is shining around Netherthong.
You have been utterly amazing this week for Miss Arno and myself. We are really proud of the hard work that you are putting in. Well done for the Mathletics trophy again.
We have begun our new topic on Light in Science, which the children have really enjoyed. We had the torches out and investigated opaque, translucent and transparent materials. The children were brilliant and really enjoyed themselves.
On Thursday, our Yoga coach Lucy came in. We have a wonderfully peaceful session and the children were very impressive.
We also had some wonderful fun in Music this afternoon.
We have begun to learn the recorder. The children listened to the conductor and played from a piece of sheet music. Wow! You were wonderful.
Have a fantastic bank holiday weekend and we will see you all on Tuesday.

Well we have had four different seasons I think this week! Let's hope that we see a little more Spring like weather next week. Fingers crossed.
We have been very busy in Literacy this week. We have been learning about how to use a dictionary and a thesaurus. I think that our vocabulary has grown a lot with all of the new words we have been using.
We have all (Miss Watkins included) been using the dictionaries to help us with our spellings of very tricky words.
We have also continued our Science work on plants and looked at how water travels up the stem and around the plant.
Have a wonderful weekend. Keep safe and we will see you all next week for the last week of term.
