This week in Maths we learnt all about our 4 times tables. We worked some tricky jumping sums and created lovely 4 times tables flowers. We also were amazing at telling the time to 5 minute intervals.
In Literacy, we held a democratic vote to decide on our new book. The choices were The Last Viking (by Terry Deary) or I was there...(by Stuart Hill). The vote was unanimously in favour of The Last Viking. I wonder which one you would chose? We wondered if we might even have time for both of them this half term.
We also wrote some Anglo-Saxon Kennings too. These are really fun poems to try. We wrote ours about ourselves. Here are a few examples of our double word phrases. Can you guess who there are about?

The highlight of our week came on Thursday! We got to go come into school early and get the coach from the War Memorial. The coach took us to Huddersfield Town Hall. Miss Watkins, Mrs Oddie, Miss Monday and Emma came with us too. There were lots of other school from around Kirklees. We had a wonderful morning practicing our song and our sign language. Paul was amazing and helped us with the signing. He was so much fun and we loved him.
A lot of children returned for the evening performance. We got to sit on the stage and perform to all of our grown ups in the audience. What a wonderful evening. We sang 5 songs - 1, 2, 3 Its good to be me, Believe, Three Little Birds, Love Shine a light and then Knees, Tum, Bum. This made us giggle!
Miss Watkins was very proud of everyone! And probably you were too (if you were there).
Well done Class 3!

Well that sees the end of another fantastic half term in Class 3. We have worked so hard and learnt so much!
In Literacy, we have really enjoyed our work on Nim's Island, finishing with our wonderful double pages spreads. You did a great job, adding facts and details about Nim and her island.
In Maths, we have completed some work on money, finding amounts and adding totals. I am sure you will be able to spend some of your grown ups money well over half term! We have also learnt all about Roman Numerals and how we still use them today.
Geography was a soggy one, where we learnt the names of some of the rivers in the UK, including the River Clyde, River Mersey (my favourite!) and the River Thames. That's a long one!
We learn the names of some of the main muscles in our bodies - tickly triceps and bulging biceps! Make sure that you use your muscles to help your grown ups, and to use those facial muscles to smile!
The most exciting day was Wednesday! We designed, prepared and cooked our own pizzas. This included chopping food, sprinkling basil or placing your food where it looks good! We got a 5 star review from Miss Kelly!
We ended the week on a snow storm and election! You all coped very well with the excitement. A huge thank you to our outgoing minister Aggy for all her hard work in government. And a well done to all of the children who said their speeches during our hustings on Thursday morning. Our democratic vote was conducted well and I am pleased to announce that the newly elected Class 3 member of the Netherthong Government is Annie G! Well done.
Have a wonderful week off. Keep safe.
Miss Watkins and Mrs Oddie.

Well we have made it to February. What a great and productive month January has been! Onward and upwards in February!
This week we have been creating our own wonderful stories involving Nim. We have really enjoyed plotting and planning our stories, adding adverbs, adjectives, noun phrase and direct speech! You have also really impressed me with the incredible handwriting that you have been using and the spellings of tricky words. Well done Class 3, your imaginations are incredible!
In maths we have been weighing different items in the classroom. We have used terms such as heavier and lighter, we have posted parcels and weighed them using a scale. I think the Post Office might give you all jobs!
In DT we have been planning our pizzas to cook next week. I can remember making these last year and how tasty they were! I can't wait to make mine.
I would like to say a large well done (I know I am a stuck record!) to all of Class 3 for their mature attitudes in our RSE lessons this week. You made me very proud of you.
Have a wonderful weekend and keep safe.

I know I always say it, but what a great week. From drama to dancing, sportsmanship to resilience, we have been on it!
I am attaching lots of photos for you all to look at.
We have also had a new member join the class the week. He needs a little feeding up with a good balance diet. His name is Clive and the children have welcomed him with open arms!
We have read a little more of Nim and Podkin One Ear and used it to help us write some speech using inverted commas.
We have continued our fractions work, adding fractions and working our equivalent fractions.
Well done this week. Keep safe, take care and see you all next week.

Well Done this week.
You have all worked so hard on the play this week. You have learnt your line, practiced the songs and dances, brought your costumes in (which look lovely) and used the props! Wow. It is a tough life being an actor!
In Literacy, we have completed The Iron Man book. The children have really enjoyed this and were very brave when the Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon appears, and very happy when the Iron Man saves the day.
We have had lots of Science work to complete this week! We have learnt about magnets, compasses and forces. We tested magnets to see which the strongest was, using lots and lots of paper clips to help us.
We then created a game using lots of Disney cars to create a maze, game or track. We then used the magnets on the cars to move them around. We learnt how the poles in a magnet are called North and South and that the opposites attract and the same repel. We used this to help move the cars around.
Have a wonderful weekend. Keep safe and we will see you on Monday, ready for our performance.
