admin on: Class 3
Thank you to those of you who have sent in photos of your challenge! Here are the rollercoasters, who wouldn't want to go on those?! Remember you don't have to use just Lego, it can be any construction material, I am using recycled materials to make my model tomorrow …

Hello from Mr Curly Wurly
admin on: Class 3
Hello to all the children and staff at Netherthong Primary School,
It's Mr Curly Wurly here and I want to say hello to you all.
Lots of things are different for me at the moment and I've heard it's different for you too so I hope you're all ok and staying safe. I miss you all and hopefully very soon I'll get to see you again. I'm very happy that we've got sausages and my toys at home to play with because we have to stay at home for a while. Sometimes I'm reading books too especially when there's a dog in the story. I'm getting very good at drawing and shapes.
I'm thinking about you all and your families.
I hope to see you soon and take care of yourselves.
Love and paws

Good morning class 3!
I hope you all had a great weekend; relaxing and having lots of fun! Hope you have taken care of Mum or Dad or whoever has been really busy helping you with your school jobs; they are working really hard to help you so at the weekend you need to take very special care of them!!
Where has the warm sunshine gone? Never mind, let's have lot's of fun as we learn today!
P.E. Have fun beginning the day with Joe Wick's workout! I'll be joining in again so do please join me to get fit and stay healthy. See if you can persuade Mum or Dad to join in too! Alternatively, try an exercise in each room of the house; these could be 15 star jumps, 10 squats, 10 bench presses against the bath, walking up & down stairs 10 times, jogging on the spot for 1 minute etc. You could even create your own exercises in each room, write them down as a list and time others doing them all!!

Practical activity
This week we are going to recap all our learning on reading the time. This always seems to be a tricky maths topic for many children so please keep practising.
Today I'd like you to make your own cardboard clock face. If you don't have any card an empty cereal box would be great! Be as accurate as you can and make sure you mark the numbers in the correct places and include markers for each minute in the hour. This will help you as we will be reading the time to the nearest minute. When adding the hands, use blue tac or a paper clip or split pin so that they can be moved to make lots of different times.
Now practise making different times on your clock; begin with o'clock, half past, quarter to and past and then move onto 5 past, 10 past, 20 past etc and also 5 to, 10 to etc.
I'd love to see your clocks; send photos if you like!
D.T.
Last week you reminded yourself of the healthy sandwich you planned to make. You also practised spreading, peeling, chopping, grating etc. Today, if possible, please could you make your own sandwich for lunch. If you don't have all the ingredients today you may need to do this activity later in the week after Mum's been shopping! If you have the ingredients you may just need to use the bread available; it's unlikely you have a fresh baguette in the bread tin!!
Remember to use your lunchbox to put your sandwich in when you've made it. Again, send me a photo if you can or stick one in your book. You could make a sandwich for your sister or brother too!
English
Let's focus on grammar today! Last week we concentrated on suffixes. Today we are focusing on prefixes. The prefix is added to the beginning of a root word to create another word, for example.... adding 'auto' to 'pilot' becomes 'autopilot', adding 'inter' to 'national' becomes 'international'.
Please can you complete the activity 'Nouns with prefixes' pg 27 in your grammar text book. Again, if you don't have this, please locate the photocopied sheet in your pack.
Reading;
Please keep reading 1 to 1 with an adult every day; this will not only improve your reading skills, but also your creative writing. Remember, authors pinch ideas from each other all the time! Whenever you read please ask whoever you are reading to to ask you lots of comprehension questions as you read.
If you have time you could complete a comprehension today. Choose one from your pack or try the one displayed (it's very much linked to a science activity we will be doing later in the week). If you are at the supermarket this week see if they have any bean seeds; they'll be very useful later!
Have fun and remember not to panic if the workload is getting too much. Select activities you are able to find time to do. Doing all the activities would be fabulous but please don't allow it to create stress at home. I'd really like you to enjoy learning and have fun.
Good luck with your tasks and please, please email me if you are having problems. I can help!
Here is the challenge from Miss H for today! Remember to email us your creations! If you don't have Lego, don't worry any construction material will do …
Tune in tomorrow for more fun jobs!
Take care!
