This week we have started learning 5 letter sounds
m a d t d
We can now try and 'blend' 3 sounds together to make little words e.g
mat
sat
sad
mad
Sam
We need to always form our letter correctly so we don't get into bad habits. It doesn't matter how big they are so please practise in many different ways.
Chalk outside, soapy bubbles, finger paint, felt tips and many more creative ways.
Encourage a pincer grip.
We have also had fun noticing objects that match. In side and outside in the woods. This is the start of our mathematics teaching. The children need to be able to notice change and patterns.
They have had another super week. Well done everyone.

Wow!
Its been our first full week in school.
We have had a lovely week exploring our classroom environment.
We have played in every area, been up to the hall, had our school dinners and played outside in the big playground, baking, P.E and have been exploring in the woods.
We have been learning why we have routines; they are to keep us safe.
What a busy week!
The Reception Team.

Here every Friday we will add some photos or write about events which have happened during the week.
This week the children have settled so well in to their new school Reception Class. We have played all the time and finished some busy jobs with the teachers called Reception Baseline Assessment.
If you want to know about the new Government Baseline Assessment we have completed this week please go to the website page for
Netherthong primary School and click on;

Well from all us who work with your children in the Reception class this year, we just want to say a massive thank you for all you support at home this year.
It has been a year not like any other with much of our communication via 'Teams' and email.
Your children have been so resilient and have coped with all the change that has taken place. They have worked really hard and I am proud of all their achievements. I am looking forward to hearing how they all get on throughout their years at Netherthong primary school.
We have been looking at maps this week and the children have really enjoyed this skill.
We also had a super time building our own 'dens'.
We also managed a walk to Old Fields play park early Thursday morning as our special out of school trip!
A few pictures of them are below.
Have a super summer and keep with all those important skills!
Best wishes,
The Reception Team 2020-2021!
