Well Spring is well on its way this week. It has been so lovely and the children have been able to appreciate our wonderful grounds.

We even read stories in the woods with our fantastic buns and biscuits. Thank you for your support with this.

In number work we have been recapping on mathematical words of taller than, shorter than, longer than and shorter than. Learning the order of days of the week.

Next week is all about castles, kings and queens and life in a castle in the past.

Here are a few highlights.

Thank you for your support at home.

Hello,

What a super first week we have had with the planet's lining up for us to see at 6.30pm on the 28th February.

M VEM J SUN is the order of the plants. This is a simple acronym to help us remember the order.

We have made some amazing space pictures which have come home this week.

We have been reading fantasy stories or we can call them fiction.

In math's we have been looking at partitioning number 8 and 7 seeing patterns in these parts using dominoes.

1 6

2 7

3 4

4 3

5 2

6 1

We saw the patterns of dots change.

We have been learning about our community and what we do and where we go in our community. For example  we all go to school, some people go swimming, gymnastics, visit the dentist or doctors.

Thank you for your support at home,

End of Spring one with only one snow day. That's a win win.

Please give a big thank you to Lucy who comes in every Wednesday to bake, cook and read with the children.

Also thank you to Olivia from Greenhead College for coming in on a Wednesday morning to read with our children.

Thank you for attending parents evening the children are all working so hard in school, maturing well and having fun!

Nurture, Progress and Succeed. That's the school's Ethos!

We have had a lovely time learning acting and reciting many, old Traditional tales.

The children are now identifying characters in the story, the setting, the problem and the solution of many stories we are reading.

This week was safer internet week we have discovered that BBCBITE SIZE has some super games to play for mathematic and many many learning tools in a safe environment on the internet.

Most fairy tales have happy endings as do many traditional tales.

This week we have learnt the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff.

We have acted it out,  written little phases and sentences, painted trolls, made bridges inside and outside in the woods.

Here are a few highlights.

Sorting socks in to pairs, 2 socks in a pair 6 socks in 3 pairs. How many socks in 4 pairs?

Printing and cutting and sticking bridges.

Experimenting with how to make a bridge.

How we have finally shelved out our new shed so we have put everything back in and can open up outside play.

We had fun make big bridges with planks in the woods.

Thank you for your support at home, keep up the reading we have put in extra books.

A week of 'The Gingerbread man'

We have had a wonderful time designing, making, printing, smelling and acting out aspects of the Gingerbread man.

In cooking this week we had to make and eat a gingerbread man of course. We looked at the ginger root.

In phonics we are writing simple sentences and thinking of describing characters.

e.g ' The thin man

The man was fast.

In math's work we have been using the language lighter, heavier, empty, full, mass and  looking at capacity of beakers.

We have been reading our book bag books a lot this week as we have been blessed with two students for the last two weeks. We will be down to 1 next week then 0.

Its makes such a difference reading little and often.

Please make sure your children recognise ch sh th (chip chop, sheep ship, thin, thick) digraphs and find them in words then they can progress onto the red book. Please come and see us if you are unsure.

Next week we are learning about Chinese New Year.

Please watch the clips on 'Microsoft Team's for pre-learning.

Here are a few highlights.

Weighing and measuring - words we used light, heavy, mass.

Reading the retell of the story together

Reading using 'special friend' green words as a warm up.

Cutting out the Ginger breadman

Thank you for your support at home.
