Good morning Class 4.

Here are the suggested activities for today:
Active time -

English -
Over the next couple of days I would like you to use your imagination and picture a little paper boat being released onto a river.
Using what we now know about the path a river takes, plan and write the story of the little boat and its journey.
You will need to think about the places that the boat will travel through, the things it will pass and the dangers it will face. You can decide whether your boat makes it all the way to the sea, gets stuck along the way or maybe something happens to it on its travels.
Be as creative as I know you are!
Try and include the following targets in your writing?
A) I can use a range of different openers.
B) I can use noun phrases (eg biting cold wind).
C) I can make appropriate noun or pronoun choices.
D) I can use commas after fronted adverbials (eg Later that day, he heard bad news).
E) I can write in paragraphs.
Maths -
We are gong to spend a few days thinking about weight.
Have a look in your kitchen cupboards (with an adult), can you find anything that weighs 1kg? Have a good feel of the object then try to estimate the weight of other items.
Write down the name of the item, your estimate and the actual weight.
Why not challenge a family member to see who can get the closest estimate!
Computing -
Over the last few weeks we have done lots of work on the logo section of Purplemash.
See if you can use your new skills to create a picture. Try and use the repeat function if you can.

Monday - Day one 23.3.2020

Good morning everyone,
What a gloriously sunny weekend we have had. As usual, we will start our day with a chat. What have you been up to over the weekend. As the sun had been shining, we have spent most of it outside in the garden, chopping trees, playing and painting fences!
How does a quick PE lesson to begin with sound? Let's get our brains and bodies woken up! Joe Wicks is holding love PE lessons at 9am every morning on his YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ.
You will find lot of other physical activities that you can dip in and out of too.
Once you have done some PE, let's move on to do some Literacy.
This morning we would like you to read a chapter of the book you are reading at home. Can you then draw a picture of your favourite character from the story? Don't forget to write the name of the book and the character. Then write a clear description of the character and explain why it is your favourite, making sure that you use noun phrases, conjunctions, good punctuation and neat handwriting. We can't wait to hear which books you are reading.
We also wondered if you would like to write a little diary entry for each day. Just a couple of sentences about what is going on in your lives or the news would be great and an amazing record of this strange time for the future!
Ok - now take a break. It is playtime!
Maths - Begin by going on https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button. This is a fun online game to help with times tables. Once you have had a go with the tables game (challenge yourself with them), have a go at a speed table. Don't forget you only get 5 minutes and please let us know your times!
After that can you create your own times tables flash cards (for all the tables up to 12). You will find these helpful, and you can make up lots of games using them!
LUNCHTIME - no need for bands today! DO you think your lunch would be a green or brown band?
Topic- As we have been learning about rivers this half term, we would like you to pick a river from anywhere in the world. Draw a clear diagram of the whole river and make sure it is clearly labelled.
End of the day - Have a go at a couple of GoNoodles - https://www.gonoodle.com/ These are really fun dance activities we do at school. You can set up your own log on. It is free!

What a week!
Well done everyone, you have been totally amazing as always.
Mrs Kendal and Miss Watkins will be in touch on Monday morning with a little timetable and some activities for you to complete. As in the letter, these will include and English, Maths and possibly something else too. Joe Wicks is going to be running online PE classes at 9am every morning, lots of authors and reading some of their stories online too. See if you can listen or join in with any of them.
Well done again and we will see some of you next week and others as soon as possible. Keep in touch.

Well done this week Year 4. You have worked hard.
Dont forget to keep having a go at your times tables. Go on Purple Mash, Matheletics and TT RockStars. Lets see if we can get the trophy back next week.
Lets also see who can get in on Speed Tables. Keep practicing them at home. You also need to remember to complete one page in your Times Table booklet please and return it by next Friday.
