Our final week of term! (23.7.21)

We had a wonderful last week in class 3! The children continued to work extremely hard as they enjoyed further investigations surrounding 'light and shadows', recapped lots of maths and grammar and consolidated their learning in R.E. as they shared the film 'Prince of Egypt'. The children were completely hooked by the film and learnt even more about Moses.
The children loved their rehearsals for their special performance for Mrs Barker's leaving assembly on Friday. They performed 2 wonderful songs; 'So Long, Farewell' (from The Sound of Music) and also 'Mama Mia'. The children were absolutely amazing; they not only learnt every single word of each song perfectly, but also remembered their tricky dance routines too. They looked fabulous! Miss Kelly and Mrs Barker commented on how super impressed they were too! London's 'West En'd here we come!!! Miss Watkins and I were so, so proud of every single one of them! Well done year 3 and 4!

Good afternoon everyone!
Hope you're all already enjoying this glorious sunshine! I think it's expected to last most of next week too; let's hope the Summer holiday stays exactly the same!! We all deserve a fabulous Summer don't we?!!
Here are some photos of the fabulous stones the children have painted. As you can see, our theme was flowers!! We are planning a whole school design; each class has had a different theme to add to their stones and together it should create a wonderful piece of whole school art to add a little more colour to our outside area. We hope you'll all love it!

Hello everyone!
Another great week in year 3! We had a fabulous transition day together; lots of fun practical tasks including using stop watches to time a wide range of activities, designing and painting rocks ready for our new whole school display (photos to follow) and creating super pastel drawings of a magical castle to illustrate our story writing.
Here are just a few photos of the children timing each other as they created a number of 2D shapes with elastic bands- trickier than it looks!!

Hello Year 3!
What a fantastic Sports Day we all had this morning! The children had an absolutely wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed all their relay races and field events too. The sun shone for us all and the children were just amazing, as always! We even had a very special visitor; 'Curly Wurly' joined us as a mascot!! The children really enjoyed cheering each other on and some of the children had even made supportive and colourful banners too! Mr Clayton took lots of wonderful photographs and video footage of the event and Miss Kelly will be putting a lovely video for you all to see on our website. I will also ensure you have some wonderful photographs to see. It is such a shame you were unable to all join us this year; we hope you will all really enjoy sharing our day by enjoying the lovely video.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Good evening everyone!
We've had a great week here in class 3 this week; we have been thoroughly enjoying our new literacy text, 'The Dragon of Castle Hill'. The children are currently now writing their own very similar stories, paragraph, by paragraph! They have also been amazed by the interesting historical facts they have just discovered about Netherthong. Who would have known there was a tailor, a brush maker, a bakers and even a treacle maker!!
Earlier this week the children really loved creating mirror mazes too. Here are a few photos of their super mazes;
