Class 6
Tuesday 31st March

Good Morning Y6 (and friends),
I am quite confident that today will be the day when I complete the Whitby jigsaw - so keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow's blog. The danger is that jigsaws are in short supply now - stocks are depleted as the nation has cottoned on to what I have known for a while: you can't beat a good jigsaw (oh how times change...). We took delivery of new garden tools yesterday, so my crystal ball predicts a day outside - fingers crossed that it's a bit warmer than yesterday!
Anyway, here is the running order for today:
PE with Jo Wicks, to get your blood pumping and your body ready for the day.
Reading - the usual 30 minutes please.
Writing - today I would like you to pick a window in your house and go and sit, so that you can see a picture of outdoors, framed by the wall. Don't lean on the wall, sit a metre or so back, so that you have one picture in front of you. I'd like you to write a descriptive paragraph based on what you can see. THEN, I'd like you to do a sketch of the same picture.
Art - you have a choice... you can stick with the sketch, or you can be adventurous and recreate it in a different way (paints, crayons, felt-tips, a collage of items you find in your garden) - be creative. I'd like to see some amazing photos please. Think about the book, 'Window' and the pictures from each page.
Maths - Fractions and Decimals - Review 3.
GPS - Layout devices: tables.
Topic - Mr Kershaw has mentioned to his class the TV Show, 'Race Across the World' - I know a few of you watched the first episode. It is on a Sunday night. If you haven't already seen it, go onto BBC iPlayer and download an episode. I'd like to hear your thoughts as the contestants race through the countries that we covered in topic yesterday.
Here is the challenge from Miss H today! Remember to email us your creations! If you don't have Lego, don't worry any construction material will do ...
And now, as part of our usual service, here are some photos from yesterday. Keep them coming. I have still not heard from a few of you by email, so please get in contact, as we are making sure that everyone is OK and might start giving some people a call.
Hello from Mr Curly Wurly

Hello to all the children and staff at Netherthong Primary School,
It's Mr Curly Wurly here and I want to say hello to you all.
Lots of things are different for me at the moment and I've heard it's different for you too so I hope you're all ok and staying safe. I miss you all and hopefully very soon I'll get to see you again. I'm very happy that we've got sausages and my toys at home to play with because we have to stay at home for a while. Sometimes I'm reading books too especially when there's a dog in the story. I'm getting very good at drawing and shapes.
I'm thinking about you all and your families.
I hope to see you soon and take care of yourselves.
Love and paws
Mr Curly Wurly

Good morning all!
It feels early this morning, now the clocks have changed... I hope you all had a good weekend and you aren't getting cabin fever. We had a couple of walks, played some games, watched some movies and read some of our family book for our book club. Remember, Read in Holmfirth are doing deliveries now, if you need a new book.
I have some photos to share with you at the end of this email, so... keep reading.
Plan for today:
Reading - as normal, 30 minutes, or more please.
Writing - back to the diary. Please write about your weekend; the fun, the frustration, everything. Did you go on a walk? Where to? Have you discovered anything new in the past week? Any new skills?
Maths - Rounding up or down. Make sure you read the examples at the top first, in order that you can understand this fully.
PE - I hope you are all doing the Joe Wicks workout by now? Apparently, all the money he is making through advertising is going to the NHS. Fantastic! If you miss this at 9am, you can go on his Youtube channel. We finished last week on 8x press-ups and sit-ups. Have another go at 8 today, before we move up tomorrow.
Topic - South America. List the countries and their capital cities. There are only two countries in South America that are land-locked (ie, there is no coastline at all); name them?
GPS - Standard English: confusing words (page 40).
Here is the challenge from Miss H for today! Remember to email us your creations! If you don't have Lego, don't worry any construction material will do ...
Now, as promised, here are some photos to start your week:
Gretel's landscape; superb!
Happy Saturday folks!

It's a tad chilly today - going to Morrison's in shorts and flip flops didn't turn out so well; especially when I had to queue in the car park to get in.
Luckily, I spent the time playing Scrabble Go with Mr Kershaw and I'm also playing against Miss Kewley now.
Anyway, I'm back home and having a chill out day with the family.
Don't forget Mathletics is still there for those of you who are bored - new activities go live on Monday morning. Also - READ!
Have a good one!
Mr C
