Good evening all!

We had another very exciting week in Year 3 last week; the children particularly enjoyed our Science afternoon on Friday. As Scientists, they all enjoyed getting their hands dirty as they investigated the properties of different rocks. They carried out investigations to deduce how dense, permeable and durable the different rocks were. The children were so excited; 'Now we are REAL scientists!' and 'Wow, this is so exciting!' are just a couple of examples of the lovely comments they made as they worked!! So great to hear!

Here is a copy of the spellings I've asked the children to learn this week;

young

trouble

touch

double

couple

thirteen

fourteen

fifteen

Once again, I've also asked the children to complete 2 sections on 'Mathletics'; this week '10 more and 10 less' and also 'ordering numbers'. Once the children have completed these they can try any of the remaining sections.

Hope you all have a wonderful week

Thanks so much for your support

Our first class visit to Murton Park

admin on: Class 3

Dear all!

Just a short message to let you all know that due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to change the date of our class visit to Murton Park in York to the 25th October 2019 (rather than 24th September). You will shortly be receiving a letter telling you all about the arrangements for the visit. It will be a very exciting end to what will certainly be a very busy and fun-packed half term!

Thank you

Week 1 3rd to 6th September 2019

A very big warm welcome to Year 3!

We have had a wonderful first week and the children seem to have settled in beautifully. We've been very busy working on a number of art projects this week; painting rocks, painting holiday scenes and using pastels too. We've had a great time in gymnastics; creating interesting balances and perfecting our dismounts, as well as developing our springboard skills! Maths has been very practical; we've used a variety of practical resources to help us become more familiar with place value. We've worked extremely hard to create our first piece of writing too. Very soon we'll have our writing displayed in the classroom for you all to see; do come and have a look!

This week the children have been introduced to our new online maths program; 'Mathletics'. The children have all been given a username and password and have been given the challenge of firstly completing 2 activities set by myself and then trying others too.

The children have also been given 10 spellings to learn for next Friday;

eleven

twelve

thirteen

fourteen

fifteen

sixteen

seventeen

eighteen

nineteen

twenty

It would be great if you could support your child in trying to learn these for next Friday.

Thank you so much,

Mrs Matthews

Dear all!

Thank you so very much for all the wonderful cards, kind words and generous gifts the children gave me at the end of term; I was overwhelmed by your kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you so very much. It really has been an absolute pleasure teaching your children; they are an absolutely fabulous class and I will miss every single one of them next year.

Hope you all have a wonderful Summer and enjoy spending some lovely family time with your gorgeous children.

Thank you once again,

Mrs Matthews

The children thoroughly enjoyed baking for the Summer fair on Thursday; we hope you enjoyed their biscuits and tasty treats. Thank you so much to Lila's Grandma, Riley's Mum and Mrs Hayley-Porteous for all your help and also many thanks to Lily's Grandma for her gorgeous cakes too. The children really enjoyed finally completing their natural weaving frames and can't wait to bring them home tomorrow.

Thanks very much to Nick Heaton too, for joining us and sharing two of his favourite Bible stories with the children on Thursday. It was lovely to see the children asking him so many interesting questions.
