Well we have as a super week retelling the story of ,The Three little Pigs.

We have also learned that pork products come from pigs which many of us enjoy eating such as ham, sausage, sausage roll and bacon. p.s pigs can swim.

We did a science experiment with the different materials used to build 'the pigs' houses  to find out which was the most stable.

We have also been looking at weighing, understanding that heavy objects have a lot of mass and light objects have little massJust because an object is big it doesn't mean it is heavy!

We also learnt a poem from Robert Burns a Famous Scottish Poet who is celebrated every year on the 25th January in Scotland. We had a go at a Scottish group dance in the hall and learn't the first verse of one of his poems.

Red Red Rose.

Straw

Sticks

Bricks

Mixing the colour pink.

Using speech bubbles.

Weighting objects.

Grouping 2's and 3's

Scottish dancing.

What a fun week.

Chinese New Year next year.

Thank you for all you support.

Well we have had a lovely week retelling the story of the Ginger bread Man.

We have been writing little sentences to go with the story.

Baking Gingerbread.

Making our own characters and mixing the colour brown. For this we needed Yellow, Blue and Red.

We have been thinking about how to be a kind friend - sharing, taking turns, helping, smiling, saying complements and listening.

You might want to go over this list at home explaining why it is so important to be kind.

We then feel loved, included, happy, safe and content if someone is kind to us.

Here are some highlights below.

Writing cards to be kind people.

What an eggciting week we have had with lots of eggy creative crafts and writing going on.

This term we have started learning to lots of Nursery Rhymes which all helps develop rhythm in their writing and construction of sentences. They should have come home with their 8 rhyme challenge certificate this week.

Well done!

On Tuesday we watched now a liquid egg when cooked becomes a solid egg and we enjoyed eating the eggy bread. Yummy!

Here are just a few of our Humpty Dumpty spontaneous activities.

Welcome to the New Year and the Spring Term.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year and we all thank you for your gifts.

This half term we are retelling many of the 'Traditional Tales' and learning the old 'Nursery Rhymes'.

This is important for the children's learning  to explore the traditional tales keeping alive their heritage and culture and investigating why many of the tales are about farm animals where the 'baddy' in the stories are foxes or wolves.

This week has been Winter Wonder Land. Here are a few highlights:

Here is our poems wall where we will be learning these six poems this term.

This week of course was 'The Snowman'

Let's now celebrate how well your children have returned to school this week and those online.

Have a lovely special Christmas break.

Your children have worked so hard in their first term at school.

They have been learning in so many different ways and their maturity and confidence was show in their Christmas production last week.

They deserve a good rest, as we all do.

Sewing a running stitch making a candle book mark.

Decorating the treasure box for their scented pot.

Being creative

Finishing off Christmas cards.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Oddy and the Reception Team
