Having fun with Art!

admin on: Class 3

Hello parents!

We are having a great time with Art at the moment in Year 3; we've thoroughly enjoyed painting our beaker pots and creating clay necklaces. We are now working really hard at developing our 3D Stone Age villages. We will be continuing with these tomorrow so if you would prefer your child wears an old shirt or t-shirt over their school uniform please do send one in as painting will be continuing!!

Thank you for all the hard work the children are doing on IXL and on their times tables; they're getting very talented at their 6x tables!

Spellings are all in the reading diaries as always. We have been working on these in class too today and will be once again tomorrow. IXL this week is R.1 for English (conjunctions) and R. 6 for Maths (interpreting Pictograms).

PLEASE SEND IN ANY FURTHER FIZZY DRINKS BOTTLES/WATER BOTTLES TOMORROW TOO ready for making gorgeous poppies. We only have a few at the moment.

Good luck with the spellings; we have discussed ways of making them easier to learn today!

Thanks again

Mrs Matthews

Homework week ending 12th October

admin on: Class 3

It was so lovely to see so many of you join us in class on Monday; we were so pleased to have visitors in each of our lessons. I think I could really get used to the extra help- it was wonderful (especially in our outdoor Maths and Art sessions!) As a working Mum I do appreciate many of you are working and thus unable to join us on certain days; please do let us know if you would like to come in at another time and I can arrange it for you.

Due to popular demand I have put this week's spellings on Spelling Shed to allow the children more fun when practising!

The spellings are also in the children's reading diaries; I have pointed out to the children that these spellings are easier than they look as they are all using the word ending 'ation'. Hopefully this will help!

The IXL Maths this week is problem solving (something we do practise every day in Maths)- S.10 and the English is a spelling activity- B.6 (or B.4 if this proves too tricky).

Thanks so much for your support

Open Day!

admin on: Class 3

We are all very much looking forwards to welcoming you into Year 3 tomorrow! We have lots of fun activities to show you! Please feel free to ask Grandma or Grandad to come if you are unable to attend.

Once again your child has added his/her new spellings to the planner. They are tricky spellings in Year 3 so please encourage your child to practise them often.

The IXL homework this week is Maths H.5 and English N.7 Maths involves the column subtraction the children have been working on in Maths. Please do remind your children that in order to calculate the Maths questions with more ease they will need to write out the questions on a piece of paper first (particularly if they are needing to 'borrow' from the next column).

If you have any worries at all please don't hesitate to get in touch

Thanks so much

Murton Park

admin on: Class 3

The children have had a fantastic day today at Murton Park; so exciting!! They've dressed as Stone Age children and had great fun with a wide range of interesting activities in the Stone Age village. They've had an action-packed day hunting, gardening, grinding wheat to make their own flour, creating decorative clay pots and examining and drawing a wide selection of Stone Age tools and artefacts. I am sure they will be able to tell you lots of amazing facts about the Stone Age. We've ALL learn't a great deal!

Thank you so much to Mrs Helm, Mrs Flynn, Miss Morton and Mr Hindle for your fabulous help today; your support has been invaluable! Hopefully you are now sat having a very well earned rest!
