Yesterday, the children cooked Jamaican rice and peas along with jerk corn-on-the-cob. They made the jerk seasoning from scratch. Some found it spicier than others!

3.2.23 Update

On Tuesday, the children continued looking at classifying animals by learning how to classify invertebrates. The children looked at what defines an insect, mollusc, annelid, arachnid and much more. Then, the class went out on a good old fashioned minibeast hunt where they had to find some creepy crawlies and classify them using their invertebrate key. They found a few annelids (if you can work out what one is!).

Here are some photographs of the children's rugby session yesterday with Mr Jones, the rugby coach. They thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors again after the icy weather has thawed!

20.1.23 Update

admin on: Class 6

An absolutely fabulous week in Class 6. The class are really coming on in all areas of learning and it is really obvious!

In English, the children produced some well-thought out book reviews on Voices in the Park by Anthony Browne. In maths, they have shown increasing confidence with percentages. In rugby, the coach was so impressed with their attitude and behaviour that he asked me to reward the whole class! Finally, in geography, the children have looked at what fair trade means, and debated why certain people in the trade chains deserve more of the profit. I was super impressed with their debating skills! Here are some pictures of the children as they were about to deliver their speeches during the fair trade debate.

This week, the children have learnt about the human geographical features of Jamaica. They have created some amazing double page information sheets on this. Here are some photographs of them.

In English, the children have been reviewing a picture book called Voices in the Park. It is a really clever book with some fabulous lessons to learn in it. Also, in maths the children have been introduced ratio and proportion. They have worked so hard on conquering this!
