Good afternoon,
We have had a very exciting week in year two! The class have loved getting stuck into more Great Fire of London learning and are impressing me with how much they can remember. Also, the class have shown what brilliant mathematicians they are by solving some hard subtraction problems. I have loved seeing the children in PE this week. They have showcased some brilliant skills in both football and tag rugby. What stars you are!
We loved dressing in pink for Eden this week and we are very proud of the money raised to support such a special and local cause.

Hello all and good afternoon,
Welcome back to a new half term!
We have had a brilliant week in year two! We started the week off by exploring our new topic 'Fire! Fire!' and the class are so enthusiastic about The Great Fire of London and 1666. We have looked at amazing books that tell the story and tried to visualise and imagine what London would have been like then.
Later in the week we had World Book Day. What a pleasure! Class Two were amazing and loved all the learning based around the book 'The Secret of Black Rock'. We made predictions, wrote descriptions, created fish, debated the environmental issues around the ocean and tried ours hands at being journalists by writing newspaper articles about protecting the oceans and seas.
Thanks for another brilliant week and enjoy your weekend!
Mr. H.

Good afternoon everyone,
I have some lovely photos to share with you this week.
We headed out into the woodland as a whole class and used Katie Morag once again as a stimulus for learning. Mrs. Pearce read the story Little Izzy and the children learned how Izzy was set a challenge to find clues around the Isle of Struay.
In the end, she made it to a lighthouse for a picnic and we mimicked this in the wild area by making our very own lighthouses and having a mini picnic!
Have a great weekend,
Mr. H.

Hi all and happy Friday,
We have had another lovely week here in class two.
We are continuing to learn about Katie Morag and the class have authored amazing settings to start off their very own Katie Morag story. We even tried to make it joined up writing - how grown up!
In maths, we have worked with fractions as well as doubles, halves and even brushed up on our addition and subtraction skills.
In Geography, we have recapped on the UK and the four capital cities.
And here are some more lovely photos from the outdoor learning sessions.

Hello everyone,
Another week has passed here in year two, and yet more learning has taken place. In keeping with our Scotland topic we have been using the Katie Morag Isle of Struay maps to help us brush up on our compass directions for geography and prepositions in English.
We have loved sharing various different Katie Morag stories and are now trying to follow the pattern of Mairi Hedderwick's books ourselves using our imaginations and own ideas.
We have been using cubes in maths to help us work with fractions of shapes and amounts and I can say that the class have worked so hard this week!
We have made soundtracks on purplemash to accompany our favourite films/games/ cartoons too.
Outdoor Learning
This week our story was ‘No Place Like Home’ which tells the story of a mole who is looking for somewhere new to live. We think he might have been to visit us at Netherthong as we spotted lots of mole hills on out school field! We played some very energetic team games to keep us warm and used our fine motor skills to tie our ‘wiggly worms’.
