A New Geography Topic

This week, Class 6 have started their new geography topic on Jamaica. They have looked at the physical and human geographical features of the island nation and presented them in lovely ways, as you can see below.

What a lovely Autumn term it has been with Class 6. They are all amazing!

15.12.23 Update

This week, in DT, the children have been making bridges. This is in relation to their history topic about war, where many bridges in Europe were destroyed in WW2. As a result, many of them were rebuilt after the war and the children had a go at designing and making their own.
First, they had to measure out the wood.
Then, they had to saw their pieces of wood.
After that, the children glued the wood together to form cubes for the base of the bridge.
It started to resemble a bridge, eventually!
Then, the children began adding their own design for a truss on the top.
Then, they added the finishing touches by painting it.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks as we enter the festive period in Class 6.
Last week, in science, the children tested their lung capacity by blowing into a balloon, measuring the diameter and then using a conversion graph to convert this into lung capacity. Here are some of the children having a go:

A busy couple of weeks in Year 6.
In science, last week, the children tested their memory of internal organs by recreating them using Play-Doh. Here are some of the results!
Also, this week, Oscar very kindly brought in his great great uncle's World War Two medal and diary. It was fascinating to have an insight into the early days of the Second World War. Thank you, Oscar!
