Class 6
18.3.22 Update
admin on: Class 6
This week we have been flying through our topic. We started with looking at how plate tectonics can lead to volcanoes and earthquakes before moving onto looking at how fossils are formed and how they can tell us about creatures that lived millions of years ago. We even linked it back to our knowledge of different vertebrates that we know from today.
In RE on Thursday, Miss Monday arranged for them to paint some cross-inspired artwork.

This week, we've looked at how tectonic plates can shape the landscape. The children got an idea of how tectonic plates work by pushing two large pieces of card together. Then, the children went outside to draw a sketch of our local landscape to see if they could suggest how it had been formed. Lots of budding geographers in Class 6, I think!
Have a lovely weekend!

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day. We used the book Clockwork by Philip Pullman to inspire some art. I have always been amazed that marks on a page form words which form meaning in our brains, that create images and ideas that inspire us.
I read an opening setting description from the book to the children and then asked them to draw the setting based on what they had heard. Here are some of the results. I'm sure you agree that books are truly amazing!
Happy Half Term!
admin on: Class 6
Happy half term! It has been a longer than usual Spring 1, but the children have all worked incredibly hard and are ready for a well-deserved break. I am so proud with how much the children have retained information on their Jamaica topic. Here is an example of an end-of-topic report that they produced this week.
Also, a huge congratulations to Orla for winning the NPS Award this half term!
Have a lovely week off!
