Year 6 Blog – Our First Week Back!
Welcome back, everyone! After a well-deserved February half-term break, Year 6 have jumped straight back into action with lots of exciting learning. Here’s what we’ve been up to in our first week back:
English
We have almost finished reading The Dark Horse, and the suspense is keeping us all on the edge of our seats! This week, we started planning and writing our own chapters, imagining what we think will happen next in the story. Will we predict the ending correctly? Once we finish our own versions, we will finally read the rest of the book to find out!
Maths
This week, we have been sharpening our mental arithmetic skills with lots of practice in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These quick-fire calculations are helping us prepare for our mental arithmetic SATs test, and we are feeling more confident every day!
PE
In PE, we have been getting active with gymnastics and football. From perfecting our balance and coordination in gymnastics to improving our teamwork and ball skills in football, we’ve had a fantastic time developing our sporting abilities.
Topic
We have started our brand-new topic: Millions of Years! This fascinating subject takes us on a journey through the entire history of Earth, exploring how our planet has changed over 4.5 billion years. We are already amazed by what we have learned so far and can’t wait to discover more in the weeks ahead!
It’s been a busy but brilliant start to the new half term, and we’re looking forward to all the exciting learning still to come. Keep up the great work, Year 6!
