Year 6 Weekly Blog
This week has been an exciting one in Year 6, with lots of great learning and fun activities!
English
We have continued reading The Dark Horse, and the children have been completely hooked. Each chapter has kept them on the edge of their seats, eager to find out what happens next. Their enthusiasm has really shown in their writing, which has been fantastic so far. I can’t wait to see even more great work next week!
Maths
We have now finished our work on algebra, and I am SO impressed with how well everyone has tackled this tricky topic. It has been brilliant to see the class rise to the challenge – well done, Year 6!
Topic
As part of our DT project, we took part in a cooking task this week. The children made spiced corn on the cob and delicious rice and peas, linking to our topic on Jamaica. We also had a special food tasting session, where we got to try a variety of Jamaican foods. These included dried mango and banana, Jamaican spiced cake, patties, jerk sauce, coconut water, and ginger beer. It was great to see everyone trying new flavours and sharing their thoughts on what they liked (or didn’t!).
Well done on another brilliant week, Year 6! Looking forward to seeing what amazing things we have in store for after half term!
