Year 6 Blog - Netherthong School
Hello everyone!
This week in Year 6 has been an exciting and busy one, full of learning and creativity. Here’s a quick look at some of what we’ve been up to:
English
We’ve been exploring the theme of heroes and inspirational figures. Each of us chose someone we admire, conducted research about their lives and achievements, and presented our findings to the class. It’s been fascinating to learn about the people who inspire us! Next week, we’ll take this further by writing letters to our heroes—who knows, we might even get a reply!
Maths
Fractions have been the focus this week! We’ve been practising how to order and compare fractions, as well as learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them. Alongside this, we’ve been sharpening our Arithmetic skills as we gear up for SATs later in the year. Keep practising at home, everyone—you’re doing brilliantly.
Science
This week’s science lessons were both fun and educational. We investigated how to change the rate of our pulse and discovered that exercise is a key factor. We also learned about the role of the lungs in the circulatory system and tested our lung capacity using plastic bottles, water, and straws. A big thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm during these experiments!
Christmas Play
The Christmas production is coming together beautifully. We’ve been hard at work learning lines and perfecting the lyrics to the songs. Keep it up, Year 6—the performance is just a few weeks away, and it’s going to be fantastic!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Clayton.
