First Week Back – Autumn 2

Welcome back, Year 6! We hope everyone had a fantastic half-term break and enjoyed a safe and sparkly Bonfire Night. Our first week back has been action-packed with new lessons, projects, and even a bit of reflection.

English – Robinwood Recounts

This week in English, we’ve been writing recounts based on our unforgettable memories from our Robinwood trip. From conquering heights to team challenges, everyone has been sharing their experiences of the amazing activities we did. We can’t wait to read everyone’s final pieces!

Maths – Converting Units

In Maths, we’ve been exploring a range of measurement conversions. We’ve worked on switching between metric and imperial units, converting between centimetres, metres, and millimetres, and moving between litres and millilitres. It's been challenging, but Year 6 are picking it up fast!

Science – The Human Body

Our new Science topic is all about the human body. We kicked things off by creating playdough models of different organs. It’s been a fun and hands-on way to start learning how our bodies work!

Music – A Rocking Start

We began our new music lessons and even got to listen to one of Mrs. Clayton's favourite bands, Green Day! It was an exciting start, and we’re looking forward to learning more about rhythm, melody, and how bands create music together.

P.E. – Dance and Rugby

This term, we’re mixing it up with dance and rugby in P.E. The class did a fantastic job getting stuck in and practising new moves and drills. It’s going to be a fun, active term ahead!

Remembering Armistice Day

We also took time to reflect on Armistice Day, learning about the sacrifices made by many during wartime. In our topic lessons, we discussed the evacuation of Dunkirk and made thoughtful artwork to commemorate those who served. It was a meaningful way to honour Remembrance.

Here’s to a brilliant start to the half-term!
