A Fantastic Week in Class 6!

What a week it has been in Class 6! Our Year 6 pupils have certainly shown their resilience, determination, and enthusiasm as we tackled some exciting and challenging tasks. I couldn't be prouder of how the children approached their very first practice SATs this week. Although SATs can often feel a bit daunting, the way the class faced these tests—with confidence, excitement, maturity, and a positive mindset—was nothing short of impressive. A huge well done to everyone for giving it their all!

As we began our journey into SATs preparation, it was wonderful to see the children embracing this challenge head-on. They not only approached each paper with enthusiasm but also demonstrated a great deal of maturity in managing their time and staying focused. Whether it was the reading comprehension, maths, or grammar tests, the pupils worked diligently, making sure to use the strategies we've discussed in class. The excitement in the air was amazing, and even though the tests were tough at times, the positive energy in the classroom helped everyone push through.

Outside of SATs, we’ve also been diving into some interesting areas in maths. This week, we explored angles in various shapes, with a particular focus on triangles and quadrilaterals. The children have been learning to identify different types of triangles—like equilateral, isosceles, and scalene—and working out the sum of angles in these shapes. We’ve also explored the properties of quadrilaterals, and it’s been wonderful to see the class making connections between different shapes and their angles.

In science, we’ve had a brilliant time studying the colour spectrum of light. Using prisms, the children were able to see the magic of white light splitting into its rainbow of colours, and they were truly amazed by the different shades that emerged. To make things even more hands-on, we created our own colour wheels to explore how primary colours mix to form secondary colours.

One of the highlights of the week was our bench ball tournament. The energy and teamwork displayed during this game were outstanding! Everyone was determined to do their best, and it was great to see the children working together, cheering each other on, and showing excellent sportsmanship.

Finally, the children had some wonderful lessons with Miss Monday, who took us on creative journeys in art and RE.

To all the children in Class 6, thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and positive attitudes this week. You’ve shown that even when faced with tricky tasks, you can rise to the occasion and do your best. Keep up the fantastic effort, and let’s continue to build on the progress we’ve made as we move forward.

Have a great weekend everyone!
